Details: Felsberg Winery and Vineyards, situated on the slopes of the high country in the Granite Belt (900-m altitude), is one of the highest wineries in Australia. The seven hectares of vineyards are planted to Chardonnay, Traminer, Rhine Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Shiraz. The winery uses state of the art winemaking equipment, and all Felsberg wines come from small hand crafted vintages. The winery itself has been built on a huge rock perched at the side of the slope. It is built from local granite stone and features red cedar fittings and charming steep gables. In addition to the vineyard and winery, the location features panoramic views and beautiful gardens. Wines were awarded Gold for Merlot and Bronze for Shiraz at the 1998 Rutherglen Wine Show. Felsberg's Merlot was also named Best Queensland Red at the Australian Small Winemakers Show in 1998.
