Enjoy light lunches in the winery courtyard overlooking the sparkling lake and hills. Robert Channon Wines is a new boutique winery in the Granite Belt area of Queensland. The vineyard is at an elevation of about 950 metres and has an ideal cool climate for grape growing. The Vineyards: Our vineyards and winery are in a picturesque setting, looking over our large lake and out to the distant hills. We began planting the vines in 1998. Total plantings now are 19 acres of Verdelho, Chardonnay, Merlot, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon. Our vineyards are unique in that they are totally enclosed under permanent bird protection netting. This is part of our vision to grow the best quality grapes possible and to concentrate on the making of premium wines. The bird netting ensures that the entire crop can be picked at its optimum ripeness and without the bacterial damage from bird attacks that can spoil wine flavours.
